Things are as hectic as ever really. There are thankfully only about three weeks left in this term. I don't know what the hell I was thinking when this term started, that this would be a great idea having two design courses and no Gen-Eds, but I was grossly mistaken. This term has really sucked every last bit of creativity I had left out of me, which doesn't leave me in a good place, especially when I'm trying to really promote my band's upcoming debut show... this would be the ideal time to put together a really eye-catching flyer, but instead I wasted all of my flyer-creativity on the giant shit-sandwich that Sinister Fate ended up being. I'll save that blog for another time, but you can sorta tell from that sentence what I think of the whole operation. Dave is an immature, unprofessional asshole that shouldn't be allowed to even drive, much less front a band.
From time to time I'll also be venting about the steady stream of retards I encounter while at work. For those that aren't aware, I no longer work in the morgue, but instead work actually for my school now. Basically when there aren't any pressing design orders for hideous financial aid flyers or ridiculous hot-dog lunches, I make copies... and that's about the extent of it. I make copies for both students and instructors and also print student work. Sounds easy enough, right? It is, make no mistake... I'm not going to go complaining about how hard of a job I have, because after working in the morgue at UIC before this, and then being in the army and deployed before that, this is of course a walk in the park. The only thing that makes this job difficult/interesting are the "customers" that come by to have things printed. I get the strangest of questions and/or requests from both students and instructors... some you have to laugh at but some leave you wondering how someone like this has managed to not only dress themselves, but not gotten hit by a car or bus on their way to school. I'll be sharing a few of my favorite moments from time to time as they unfold... I should have known what I was in for when my first day working I was asked if I could make a color copy of a black & white photo. Yeah. Think about that for a second... but moving on...
April 3rd my band SutureSelf will be headlining Reggie's Rock Club for our debut show. This is actually really cool and we're super excited about this. The panic hasn't set-in yet, so we're good so far. I'm pretty proud that our first show will be at Reggie's on a saturday night and in the headlining slot. I think that's pretty impressive and will rank right up with me getting the chance to play the Metro last year... definitely something I'll no doubt be bragging about in weeks to follow.
